We are so excited to welcome our new Executive Director, Nathan Kumar Scott. Nathan comes to MassEnergize with a career in nonprofit leadership, having spent close to 20 years as the Executive Director of a variety of organizations focused on climate change, sustainability, and experiential education. Most recently Nathan was the Executive Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension in Schuyler County, NY, where he oversaw the development of programs in climate stewardship, both residential and municipal clean energy transition, climate smart agriculture, youth development, and community based climate action.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am to be joining the incredible team at MassEnergize. The work you are doing is wonderfully aligned with my passions and my experience. It is an honor to be invited to lead this small but mighty organization,” says Nathan
Prior to his time with Cornell Cooperative Extension, Nathan was the Executive Director of the Thrive Ithaca EcoVillage Education Center, dedicated to sharing the lessons of sustainability and climate resilience pioneered by the Global Ecovillage Network.
Nathan holds an M.A. from the University of Washington, a B.A. from Oberlin College, and a certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from Tufts University. He has been a Watson Fellow, a Fulbright Fellow, and is the co-founder of Global Climate Corps, a global youth training program focused on skill building for climate engagement.
After living in upstate NY, Nathan has recently moved back to Massachusetts where he can be close to his children and looks forward to exploring the waterways of New England with his partner in their kayaks.
