Joyce Losick-Yang, Board Member
Joyce joined New Ecology in 2025 as the Director of Decarbonization Services where she oversees New Ecology’s work in helping affordable housing providers comply with building performance standards by tracking and lowering energy use, improving air quality and cutting emissions. To do this work, Joyce and her team nurture strategic relationships with developers, governments, funders, insurers, utilities and other partners in both Massachusetts and the Mid-Atlantic region.Previously, Joyce was the Director of Sustainability and Energy for the Town of Andover from 2009-2015, where she developed Andover’s first community-wide Climate Action Plan, helped to pass the Opt-in Specialized Energy Code, obtained and managed over $2.5 million in grants to improve municipal building performance and install school rooftop solar, and launched the town’s electricity aggregation program. To do so, Joyce worked closely with dedicated volunteers from Andover’s Working to Educate on Climate Action Network (WECAN) and the members of Andover’s Sustainability Committee. Joyce believes deeply that this type of municipal and active citizenship partnership is critical to achieve climate goals and looks forward to helping MassEnergize activate local climate networks. Before coming to Andover, Joyce worked for the US Department of Energy on a myriad of grant and national lab programs on bioenergy, manufacturing, and technology commercialization. Joyce obtained her PhD in Genetics and Microbiology from MIT, and her BA in Biochemistry from Rutgers University. She lives in Lexington with her wife and grade-school kids and enjoys playing board games, fishing, cooking, and reading during her free time.
