Steve Breit

Steve is passionate about reducing carbon pollution through electrification of home heating with heat pump technology. He is a co-founder of the HeatSmart Alliance. Steve transitioned to volunteer work after a career in engineering management for high-tech software companies.  From 2000 to 2018, Steve was on the management team for Coventor, Inc., a startup that developed specialized software for the semiconductor industry, serving as Vice President, Engineering and Sr. Director, MEMS Business. Steve was responsible for development of the company’s software products and overseeing company IT, and deeply involved with marketing and sales. Prior to joining Coventor, Steve held engineering management positions at Dragon Systems, developing speech recognition software for cars; at Kendall Square Research, a supercomputing startup; and at BBN Systems and Technologies focusing on high-performance computing and hydro-acoustics R&D. Steve holds multiple software patents. Steve has a Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering from MIT and a B.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Webb Institute.
