Solar Para Todos

Solar Para Todos (‘Solar for All’ in Portuguese and Spanish) is a residential engagement campaign to bring the benefits of community generated solar energy to income-eligible and Environmental Justice residents of Framingham, MA. The campaign focuses on the low-income Portuguese and Spanish speaking communities, many of whom are renters. The program employs and trains local Framingham residents as “clean energy ambassadors” to conduct outreach campaigns in their neighborhoods, designed to reduce residents’ energy burden via participation in community solar, while building clean energy awareness within their community. Local high school students in conjunction with the Christa McAuliffe Center for Integrated Science Learning at Framingham State University help extend the knowledge and awareness of clean energy in their own communities, resulting in community empowerment across generational, cultural, and linguistic lines.
